Networth = Total Assets – Total Liabilities
August has come to a completion. It is time for a financial health check up! The growth percentage is calculated using the difference between the networth figures on 31 July 2019 and 31 August 2019.
EXPENSES
My expenses for this month went through the roof as I had to pay for my annual life insurance policy. Networth is definitely affected. But this money had been set aside in a high interest savings account since one year ago. This insurance payment contributed to 70.3% of my total expenses this month.
The other significant expense is on an electric skateboard that I bought for about $359 – this amount went into my transportation fee. I intend to use it for commute to nearby places and MRT stations.
Cashflow is super negative for this month, there is nothing too much to mention about.
INVESTING
Shiller PE Ratio for S&P 500 is now 29.32, lower than previous month’s ratio of 30.67. Even though it has came down a bit, I still find the US market rather expensive. And it has not been cheap for a really long time.
I took a position in a thematic ETF last month. It is an Esports and Digital Entertainment ETF that has exposure to companies across America, Asia and Europe. After buying, it decides to go down in price. This is something that always happen whenever I take a position.
Robo Investing is automated and hence it is super chill. Let dollar cost averaging take it over and just relax.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Debt/Networth Ratio: 2.12%
Investment/Networth Ratio: 27.34%
Networth Month On Month Growth: +0.01%
I may be getting a new mobile phone and I am intending to fund it using my credit card on 0% interest installment plan. Hence, the Debt/Networth Ratio may go up a little next month.
The Networth Month On Month Growth is at only 0.01% due to the annual premium payment for my whole life insurance policy. The forecasted growth in networth may slow down significantly as I am furthering my studies soon.
